Firefox aims for ‘many devices, one web’ experience
16.10.2008
"Up until recently, web browser developers have more or less seen the mobile handset as an afterthought as opposed to a serious platform, but when the iPhone came along with Safari, this was the impetus for change. The beta version of Firefox Mobile will be released before the year is out and is expected to come out of beta testing some time in 2009."

"Mozilla is giving the public a taste of its Firefox mobile browser, as the company debuted an alpha version of the software for the Nokia N810 Internet tablet. Code-named Fennec, the browser uses the same technology as the desktop version, including its HTML rendering engine called Gekko. Mozilla said it wants to ensure that the mobile version is not inferior to the version that people use on their home computers. "

Fennec - Here Comes AMO
" Last night, support for Fennec on AMO was pushed live. A big thank you to Mike Morgan and crew for making this happen. There are no recommended Fennec add-ons yet, so you need to search for them. Here are some results, based on the two add-ons I know support Fennec and are on AMO" ...Mark Finkle

MR Tech’s Toolkit (Local Install) from Mel Reyes was updated with support for Fennec. Then, URL Fixer from Chris Finke got support for Fennec.

This release is available for the OS2008 ("Maemo") software platforms that runs on the Nokia N810 Internet Tablets. If you're viewing this on an N810, install Fennec. Don't have an N810? Don't worry, you can still experiment with Fennec, provide feedback, write add-ons, and get involved by installing a version of Fennec for your desktop PC: Windows/ Mac OS X/ Linux

The idea behind releasing the package for PCs is to give people who don't have a Nokia Internet Tablet the ability to localize, experiment and build add-ons. Note: The desktop version of Fennec is not a supported product. Play around with it for fun...it works.
