Full Version: Do I need To Reformat?

I am having some problems after I was infected with the winbutler
virus. Here is a link to the forum where I was given instructions
for removal.

http://gladiator-antivirus.com/forum/index...showtopic=63019

Since it's removal I am unable to find msconfig.exe by typing it in Run.
I am unable to locate helpctr.exe by selecting in from the start menu.
I can open them from the target.

Also I am unable to enter Safe mode using the F8 method on the
start up screen. I get the black start screen and select Safe mode
but it just keeps coming back around and asks me to select again.
I was able to enter Safe mode the F8 method during my discovery
of winbutler then it stopped working.

I am able to enter Safe mode by going to msconfig in the PC health
folder and selecting diagnostic mode.

Should I reformat? I hate to do it with all I have installed and
configured. So far all other programs seems to work fine.

Is there a way to repair and OS? Or can I just live with these
errors?

What do you think of Registry Mechanic?

thank you

Well, I just told them to retrack it. I took it where I had it built.
I haven't retracked for over three years. I had done some
backup on my second drive a month ago.

What do you think of Registry Mechanic?
It seems to have the endorsement of reputable
references unlike many of these scams.

Registry Meechanic has gotten some Awards, has a great reputation but frankly said I'm not such a great fan of programs like that one. Windows registry is a highly sensitive element of your OS and any unexpierienced changes on it may lead to a complete reinstall of your system.... without creating any backups before using such tools. Thats what my experience tells me over more than 15 years...

Have a great day and thx for your response about taking your computer to the shop

OK, thanks. I'll stay away from any registry software.
