Your computer was clean two days ago and still is. However, I don't recall you ever mentioned the Hosts file. Normally, it would not cause a slowdown, but we can reset it to be safe. Also, there may be 'junk' in temporary files and folders so we'll clean that also.

First:
1.Download the HostsXpert from here: http://www.funkytoad.com/download/HostsXpert.zip
2. Install the program and run it.
3. Press 'Restore MS Hosts File' button and press 'OK'
4. Exit Program.
5. Reboot your computer.

Note: This program also has a Hosts file backup facility that may want to use if you have added custom entries to the Hosts file.

Second:

Download and scan with CCleaner
1. Starting with v1.27.260, CCleaner installs the Yahoo Toolbar as an option which IS checkmarked by default during the installation. IF you do NOT want it, REMOVE the checkmark when provided with the option OR download the toolbar-free Basic or Slim versions instead of the Standard Build.

2. Before first use, select Options > Advanced and UNCHECK "Only delete files in Windows Temp folder older than 48 hours"

3. Then select the items you wish to clean up.

In the Windows Tab:
• Clean all entries in the "Internet Explorer" section except Cookies.
• Clean all the entries in the "Windows Explorer" section.
• Clean all entries in the "System" section.
• Clean all entries in the "Advanced" section.
• Clean any others that you choose.

In the Applications Tab:
• Clean all except cookies in the Firefox/Mozilla section if you use it.
• Clean all in the Opera section if you use it.
• Clean Sun Java in the Internet Section.
• Clean any others that you choose.

4. Click the "Run Cleaner" button.
5. A pop up box will appear advising this process will permanently delete files from your system.
6. Click "OK" and it will scan and clean your system.
7. Click "exit" when done.

Plz can u help me...i don't know what to do...plz....i need ur help

Again, let me state that the HJT logs do no show any virus. If you beleive you have one, then do a full system scan with your antivirus. If you do that, please post the log from the scan in this thread.

When you download CCleaner you should get a .exe file. Doubleclicking on it will run it.

HostsXpert is a zip format archive that Windows XP shoudl be able to handle natively. You seem to be having some trouble though. Google for 7Zip (a free zip program), download and install it. Then you can extract HostsXpert.

Also, normally we respond withing 24 hours so your followup posts are unnecessary. If you find our response time unacceptable, by all means go somewhere else.

Nad17.

Poor choice on using Report This Post; I am one of the recipients. All your questions were answered, some more than once As I have said before, there is no virus showing. If you have a program that detects one, then you should have posted it. In any event, I am closing this log and ask that you take future problems elsewhere.

I was checking your very first posts in a different forum. You stated there that the trojan was in your System Restore area. If that is still the case, then reset your restore and it will be removed. Note that almost all infections in system restore are unable to affect the active computer area.

I realize the Nebon mentioned this in a prior thread, but I am not sure if you followed his suggestion or not.

To reset your restore points, please note that you will need to log into your computer with an account which has full administrator access. You will know if the account has administrator access because you will be able to see the System Restore tab. If the tab is missing, you are logged in under a limited account.

(Windows XP)
1. Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

2. Reboot.

3. Turn ON System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
